MANILA A Filipino minibus driver and his live-in female partner were killed Friday in a grenade blast during a quarrel at a dumpsite near Manila, AFP quoted police as saying.
The 45-year-old driver, Junel Yasas, whipped out a grenade after accusing his companion, identified only as Cherry, of having an affair with another man, initial investigations showed.
Cherry rushed to grab the grenade but one of them must have pulled its pin and set it off, police said.
The grenade explosion shook the Payatas dumpsite community who initially thought it was linked to the series of bomb blasts in the Philippine capital last week which left 22 dead and nearly 100 others injured.
